Jersey Electricity Plc
Jersey Electricity is a vertically integrated power utility dealing in the importation, generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Listed on the London Stock Exchange, the Company serves around 50,000 domestic and commercial customers. Providing affordable, secure and sustainable energy is their core objective, and their vision is to help inspire a zero-carbon future for our Island. Jersey Electricity’s non-Energy businesses include Retail, IT advisory, Building Services, Environmental Engineering and Property.
Around 95% of the electricity they supply is imported from low carbon, hydro (34%) and nuclear (66%) sources in France through three undersea supply cables. These cable links have given them the ability to virtually completely de-carbonise Jersey’s electricity supply. The remainder of the electricity comes from the Government-owned Energy from Waste Plant and since 2019 some on-Island solar PV generation.
For the domestic market Jersey Electricity provide beyond-the-meter services, including the design, installation, and maintenance of electric heating systems. These systems can include electric panel or storage heating and flow boilers, but more recently have adopted a heat-pump-first mentality. The promotion of heat pumps to provide customers with the lowest cost possible heating and hot water is a core part of Jersey Electricity’s customer centric product and proposition design philosophy.
