Location: Home based with some UK travel

ABOUT US:

The HPA is the UK’s leading authority on the use and benefits of heat pump technology and represents over 350 member organisations including the country’s leading manufacturers of heat pumps, components, and associated equipment as well as energy companies, certification bodies, installation businesses, training providers and others critical to the heat pump supply chain.

We are looking to expand our sector representation on Shared Ground Loops, Low Carbon Heat Networks and Drilling.

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

As the individual overseeing aspects of Shared Ground Loops, Low Carbon Heat Networks and Drilling for the Association, you will play a vital role in collating, processing and representing both the technical views and policy asks of our members in these sectors.

Proactive engagement with members is essential, and you will be responsible for managing and delivering a specialist working group, coordinated to share knowledge, gather members’ inputs, agree outputs and subsequently deliver on them. You will also be responsible for identifying whether additional support or expertise on a particular item is required.

As well as detailed member engagement, you will also act as the go-to within the Association on all matters relating to Shared Ground Loops, Low Carbon Heat Networks and Drilling- including support with consultation response drafting, specialist external and internal presentations and support with any ad hoc internal queries.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Initial:

With support and input from members and the HPA team, create a Shared Ground Loops, Low Carbon Heat Network and Drilling Strategy for the Association, covering the following areas:

  • Overview of the current combined Association activity, outputs (desired plus current) and long-standing responsibilities
  • Map the overview to current and expected policy developments and timelines
  • Flag the open and future opportunities for the sector to influence
  • Identify organisations/ stakeholders to collaborate or partner with and build and maintain positive working relationships
  • Propose a list of priority areas for the specialist working group to focus on

Ongoing:

Coordinate, host, and manage a specialist working group to deliver, update and oversee the above strategy :

  • With support from others in the Association, coordinate quarterly meetings with members to share insights and collate feedback on the sector
  • Manage the delivery of the outputs agreed within the meetings

Maintain and update the Shared Ground Loops, Low Carbon Heat Network and Drilling Strategy for the Association at regular intervals.

General Association Support:

  • Assist with membership meeting tasks such as providing updates- written and/or verbal, presentations and briefings, on technical/training issues to members, supporting with reviewing consultation responses and member communications, PowerPoint Presentation creation, delivery and updating relevant documents.
  • Support senior team members in various ad-hoc tasks related to membership, events, internal and external communication outputs.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Strong technical understanding of Shared Ground Loops, Low Carbon Heat Network and Drilling (or at least in one of these areas with a desire to learn and coordinate member input and identify where further specialism is needed)
  • An excellent communicator: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A level of familiarity with energy policy, sustainability, and heat pump technologies is essential
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software and content management systems. (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint essential, Excel nice to have)
